Writing 2203 is designed to accommodate a wide range of student interests and abilities. It offers students an opportunity to explore writing as a means of personal expression as well as a method of communication. As mentioned in class, perhaps a more appropriate name for the course should be Communication. The course provides opportunities for students to develop a portfolio of of written products in various categories including transactional writing, poetic writing, and expressive writing.

The course will require students to apply themselves diligently to the activities assigned in class. Students who do so and demonstrate an ability and willingness to grow will experience success.

The first three weeks of classes have focused on students becoming familiar with the writing process and reacting to the written word.

Students have completed a number of activities that should be handed in for feedback and assessment including;

  • reacting to "Getting a Second-Wind".

  • Completing a Personal Inventory, reflecting on the Inventory and providing further information on chosen items from the Inventory.

  • Writing about their past and future as a writer.

Those items should be handed in as well as the Journal. The Journal has been provided and students will receive feedback on their journal selections throughout the year.
